Training and education
Dr. Ivey attended medical school at Drexel University in Philadelphia and subsequently completed a demanding five-year residency in general surgery at Temple University Hospital. He is proud to be certified by the American Board of Surgery. Board certification confirms that surgeons have undergone a rigorous vetting process that includes exhaustive written and oral examinations.
Dr. Ivey pursued additional specialized training in order to build on his skill set and refine his knowledge of aesthetics. This included traveling as a visiting scholar to Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan to train in microsurgery under the guidance of noted professor Fu-Chan Wei.
Dr. Ivey then completed a prestigious three-year residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery in Charleston, South Carolina under the tutelage of Dr. Milton B. Armstrong. He honed his abilities in the painstaking fields of plastic, reconstructive, hand, and breast surgery at this time.
Specialization in craniofacial surgery
While studying in Charleston, Dr. Ivey developed a passion for facial procedures, rhinoplasty, orthognathic surgery, and procedures to help children with craniofacial anomalies and clefts. In Miami, FL, he attended an ACGME-accredited craniofacial and facial aesthetic surgery fellowship with Dr. Anthony Wolfe and Dr. Chad Perlyn.
