Your Body Type for Breast Implants
Many women bring in “wish photos” as an example of the look they want. Those are helpful guidelines, but it’s important to remember that your body type and the amount of existing breast tissue you have will influence the choice of implants. The same-sized implants in one person can produce very different results in another patient.
Dr. Ching’s opinion may also be that your body type wouldn’t properly support the size implant you want. A petite body type, for instance, will not support as large of an implant as a medium or larger body type. The implant can be inserted, but there is a much greater chance of rippling. That’s something your plastic surgeon should steer you away from in order to give you the best breast augmentation results possible.

Breast Implant Factors
Shape
Implants can be either round or teardrop-shaped, with the latter also known as anatomically shaped. Round implants generally produce a fuller appearance that creates more cleavage. Teardrop-shaped implants have more volume in the lower portion and more closely resemble the slope of natural breasts.
Profile
A breast implant’s profile refers to how much it projects outward from your chest. A low-profile implant is wider at the base, but doesn’t project very much. Moderate, moderate plus, and high profile implants have narrower bases and project out more from the chest.
Implant Material
Implants can be filled with either saline or silicone gel. Each type of implant has unique benefits but may limit choices for incision placement. Many women believe that the latest generation of cohesive silicone gel implants look and feel more like natural breasts than saline implants. The highly cohesive gel implants often called “gummy bear” implants, are very popular.
