A large forehead does not appear youthful and also can affect the balance of the face. Generally as patients get older, both men and women, a high forehead can give people an aged appearance. Forehead lowering can take from 1-2 hours to perform. In this procedure forehead skin in front of the hairline is removed as a strip and the hair-bearing scalp is advanced forward to lower the distance between the eyebrows and the hairline. Suturing is done very carefully and the incision is made at a bevel to transect some hair roots. This is done to cause the growth of hair through the scar so that the scar is well camouflaged when hair grows through it. Careful suturing is done so to ensure that the best scar possible results.
